Gloucestershire opening batter Chris Dent has retired from professional cricket.
Dent represented the club in 356 matches, amassing over 15,000 runs across all formats. His outstanding tally of 11,237 first-class runs places him 28th on the club’s all-time list.
He said: “After 16 memorable seasons playing professional cricket, I’ve decided that the time is right to step away from the game. It’s hard to put into words what cricket has given me, but I will always be truly grateful.
Born in Bristol, Dent joined the Club’s Pathway at the age of 12, making his senior debut in 2009 during a Pro40 Division One match against Nottinghamshire. His career highlights include being part of the squad that lifted the 2015 Royal London One Day Cup, Gloucestershire’s first major trophy in over a decade.
