Mud pies, anyone?

Children at Elmlea Infant School in Westbury on Trym are enjoying a new outdoor learning environment.

The school’s EYFS outside area has been designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and adventure, with dedicated areas including a mud kitchen, digging pit, performance stage, construction area and climbing equipment.

The facilities provide the four and five-year-olds with opportunities to explore, collaborate and develop their physical skills through play.

Becca Hine, headteacher at the Russell Education Trust school,  said: “We are delighted with our new EYFS outdoor area.

“It provides our youngest learners with fantastic opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and independence while enjoying the many benefits of outdoor learning.”
