Party in the Park defies the odds

The playing fields of Golden Hill Sports were once again the scene of the 17th annual fundraiser ’Party in the Park’ last month, with even the weather putting on a decent show.

Despite the rain that fell in the days leading up to it, the event went ahead as planned after some last-minute changes to the site layout.

Even though possible showers were forecast, large numbers of people from the community and beyond turned up to sample and enjoy everything on offer ranging from live music, a mix of demonstrations and dance groups, stalls selling a wide variety of goods, food and drink – right through to the popular firework display at the end. The sun shone (mostly), the threatened showers stayed away (mostly) and as usual, there was a great atmosphere as friends and neighbours met up and the community came together for a fun-filled few hours.

The organisers would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took a chance on the weather and came along with family and friends alike, as without their support on the day they are only too aware that all the planning and preparation that goes into the event would be to no avail.  All proceeds from the event go to pay for the upkeep of the community-owned sports ground at Golden Hill.
