Following its success earlier in the year, when it was named the national Curry Kitchen of the Year in the Nation’s Big Curry Awards, Indian Kitchen in Westbury village has been recognised for a second time.
Finalists were recently announced for the 14th English Curry Awards 2025 and Indian Kitchen was delighted to be one of nine nominees for the South West category of Curry Restaurant of the Year.
Oceanic Awards, which is hosting the event, said on its website: “These awards provide a platform to applaud the exceptional efforts of those who have made significant contributions to the curry sector and continue to elevate the nation’s love for curry.”
The winners were announced at a ceremony in Birmingham on 11 August. Although Indian Kitchen did not, in the end, win an award in its Curry Restaurant category, Suresh Sharma, head chef and owner of the family-run curry house in the heart of Westbury village, did receive a ‘Recognised for Excellence’ award in the Editor’s Choice Chef of the Year category.
Unable to attend the ceremony in person due to family commitments, Suresh described how he felt when he heard he had received this accolade.
He told the Voice: “I feel very happy, proud and grateful to be recognised for excellence as the Editor’s Choice. To have all the hard work put into Indian Kitchen by our staff since it opened in 2019 recognised at this level is a great achievement and feels wonderful. I want to thank all the team – my family and all the supportive friends I’ve made here”.
